Starlight and the first black holes: Researchers detect the host galaxies of quasars in the early universe
Francis Villatoro | #Nature Detection of stellar light from quasar host galaxies at redshifts above 6 https://nature.com/articles/s41586-023-06345-5 at z > 6 with JWST NIRCam at 3.6um and 1.5um (subtracting light from the unresolved quasars). Host galaxies have stellar masses of 13 x and 3.4 x 1010 M

W. M. Keck Observatory | Remarkable! @NASAWebb & @SubaruTel_Eng successfully imaged 2 quasars & their host galaxies from < 1 billion years after the Big Bang - the earliest epoch to date at which light from stars has been detected around a quasar. Congrats to Xuheng Ding of @KavliIPMU @UTokyo_News_en + the entire team, including @keckobservatory astronomer Chien-Hsiu Lee!
